Everybody's A Digital Marketing AI Expert!

Have you ever noticed when searching for website assistance, not even software developers of "easy to use" web site platforms such as "Wix" can recommend, with 100% assurance, "this person, these people, or this company" is who you need. They can't do it. Why is that? Legal Reasons? Reputation Tarnishing? It's similar to setting up a best friend on a blind date that goes horribly wrong? Hey? What the hell were you thinking? And now the referral bad mouths you for trying? I dunno. I just don't understand why this is so difficult of an ask?

Oh yes... we're all Digital Marketing Web, GiG, AI Experts... and we all play Pickle Ball in our spare time.
Oh yes... we're all Digital Marketing Web, GiG, AI Experts... and we all play Pickle Ball in our spare time.

Recently, this past February 15, 2025, after experiencing numerous failed attempts at advertising my self developed "Wix" site, I decided enough was enough. I thought my site was at least good enough to be a place to go for specific on-line sales of EduTaining performance enhancing workshops, along with exciting and valuable on-line store merchandise. Nope. After all, reminding myself asking for help is not a sign of weakness but rather, Dave, it's a sign I know I can't do it all on my own and I need help, from professionals.

Now, before we go any further, I'm just going to do a little "Quentin Tarantino", and take us back to the beginning. The dreaded days of Covid-19. It's March 2020 and all I could think of was, "2 more months and I'm breaking out of this shit hole prison". It's just, as we all learned, the world had ideas of its own.

As a Community College Professor, teaching a skilled trade of HVACR to diploma, degree, and apprenticeship students, I wanted out from that horribly toxic, under funded, swindling, deceitful, cheap, overly oppressive, and overly woke working environment. (Unless you're a Community College Professor, you'll have no idea what I am writing about).

In the Fall of 2019 I began to research On-Line learning software. Which one? For my needs, all research pointed to "Wix" as the go-to on-line learning software platform to purchase.

So after back and forth with a number of Wix vendors, myself coming from years as a self employed HVACR contracting business owner dealing with some very high end low temperature research and development institutions... I was stunned to learn... "oh yes, we can do everything you want, but, we need a 50% deposit upfront before we get going".

"50%? I was thinking 10% to get started, with performance based incremental payments."

Average budget? $2,500 to $5,000 to get started, and upwards of $10K - $20K to build my on-line learning site. I also have to provide them with all the video learning content, and written copy. And there is a time frame from start to finish of 30 days.

"So, be prepared to send us, via e-transfer $1,250.00 U.S. after we complete a one time only, FREE 15 minute introduction meeting via Zoom, and a signed contract we'll send you agreeing to what we will do for you to get us all going".

"By the way, it's a new world so, we're in Florida, the USA, we will never meet, we don't have to meet, it's an internet world, all meetings will be once a week, for one hour, no more, 4 meetings in total to complete this project. Let us know when we can schedule a Zoom meeting.

My initial thoughts? Florida? Wix? You mean there is no one local to Toronto, Canada? No one I can have a coffee with to meet them, face to face, eye to eye, to discuss BUSINESS before agreeing to commit to a professional service provider? Nope. And we money to meet before we get into a car and drive to you to introduce ourselves to one another.

My first thoughts? Hahahahah. Ummmm. No.

I tried 2 "Wix" experts. I wanted professional assistance to take the site I had taken a few years to develop, as a "model", a "concept" of what my best skills and talents could amass in order to give a professional "Wix" website expert the opportunity to WOW me.

Well, a recent vendor sure did that for me until... certain behaviours and actions reminiscent of dealing with someone who is about to let you down through their addictive behaviours... like lying to you, not making the meetings they said they were going to, finish the project they started before moving on to next steps, or the next level, like, PROOF READ the stuff he initially did... when you develop that emptiness deep within your soul... oh God... all this dude did was to use an AI generated web site. SHIT!

And as you're proof reading the pages, nothing is making sense. You have to re-write most pages and reset all... and oh my GOD, this clown published your site, LIVE, to Facebook, and Instagram with numerous spelling and grammatical errors... WAIT... it's not PERFECT yet... so... you have to fire them.... what? Yup... he's going to meet you, he's not going to meet you, he's going to meet you, he's not going to meet you... and now messaging you apologizing for the non-communication for the past 5 days "cuz he started a new business and has 18 new web sites to create and launch so what is it I need again?"

Huh? I need my site completed.

He was relieved of his contractual duties, fully paid... get lost.

Then you ask around, who knows WIX, even of WIX people located in Toronto, Canada? No one.

Web sites and digital media people... the stupidest industry filled with some of the most useless business minds, entrepreneurial - customer service minded industries ever.

And now, giving someone $3,750.00 plus taxes to build you a new site... they take your money, yell the specifics into an AI ChatGPT system... and whatever comes out the end, without review they say, after depositing your money into their account, all done, there you go, what else can we do for you?

Nothing, you've done enough. Know a great Wix, or web site developer... let me know... I promise, I'll never contact them.

Take care Vince... you were good, you were awesome... until you told me you really enjoyed drinking and drugging. Trust me, it showed in the work you promised but didn't do.
