You Pay For Your Level of Comfort.

In Toronto, Canada as of May 01, the new Summer Hours for Hydro Electrical Rates were published. Yeah. So? Well, it means for many, as the outdoor temperature and humidity rises, pending application, so does the time your air conditioning system and tertiary comfort providing systems function. That means, for most Torontonians, your energy bill rises, mmmmm, possibly 3 times as much or more, than your Winter Hour rates. With the exception of course going to those who have fully converted to a domestic Air to Air Heat Pump comfort system. Then your costs may only be twice as much as your Winter hydro bills. Once again, we're only talking Toronto, Canada Hydro consumption. And I'm just spit balling here for discussion purposes only.
Below is the specific rate change notice Toronto Hydro attaches to my monthly Hydro bill. Kind of a like a similarly feigned "use responsibly" alcohol, cigarette, birth control industry tip.

So what does all this information mean to me?
As a former award winning Community College Professor for the skilled trade of HVACR, teaching the entry level apprenticeship, and diploma program's, building environment, Gas certificate programs at Centennial College - Seneca College - Durham College, and the first in Canada, Woman's Only Pre-Apprenticeship for HVACR at George Brown College... relax... it's all based on, the more comfortable you wish to be kept, the more you pay.
Also, before we start, just know, there are building codes and standards set in Canada, and Toronto that any building being constructed must be made to keep an interior climate standard. For example between Oct 15, to May 15 interior heating must maintain 71f/20c Summer 78f/24c year round.
Read the information from your Hydro provider on how you're charged for electrical consumption. And if you can't afford air conditioning, BUY a fan. At least move the air in and out of your dwelling plus, move it over your body, to help keep you cool.
